Our approach is aligned to the acknowledged industry best practice, three-pillar model:

Social, Environmental and Economic (Governance).

Together with our established supply chain partners, we are committed to delivering against these three pillars.

Social value

Our community funds are designed to give back to the local areas in which we live and work.

The Metalcraft Community Fund was launched in 2016 to support community groups and non-for-profit organisations located in the PE16 postcode area, and the surrounding villages of Benwick, Doddington, Manea and Wimblington. £750 per quarter is available to support worthy projects in this areas, with support taking the form of financial support or practical donation delivered by our apprentices and skilled engineering teams. To date, the fund has helped more than 70 local organisations.

Applications close on the last day of January, April, July and October for each quarter. Click here to download an application form.

Building on the success of the Metalcraft Community Fund, the Metalcraft Cockermouth Community Fund was launched in 2020, supporting projects in and around the Cockermouth area of Cumbria. Up to £500 per quarter is available to worthy causes and, to date, the fund has helped more than 20 local organisations, as well as sponsoring a Young Entrepreneurs’ Market that encouraged 45 young people to pilot or launch new business ideas.

Applications close in March, June, September and December each year. To find out more, download an application form here.

Reducing carbon emissions

Metalcraft is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

The process of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions presents significant opportunities, both financial and environmental, to the business, our customers, suppliers and local communities.

Our Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our ongoing commitment to the management and reduction of business-related carbon emissions, in line with our ISO 14001:2015 accreditation objectives and targets. We are currently working to:

  • Assess our Scope 3 emissions hotspots across the value chain to prioritise reduction strategies
  • Identifying which interventions will deliver the most significant emission reductions throughout our supply chains
  • Encouraging product and process innovation to create more-sustainable, energy-efficient products
  • Engaging with employees to reduce emission from business travel and commuting practices
  • Reviewing transportation and distribution practices, both up and down stream to identify potential improvements

As a manufacturing business, we are committed to working closely with all employees, contractors, suppliers and customers to embrace this plan, working collaboratively to achieve this important goal.
