We have 30 plus years of experience in the nuclear sector and through supplying pressure vessels for oil and gas. This has developed the necessary skills, knowledge and experience which will be required for new reactor builds. Our expertise in both carbon-steel and stainless-steel pressure vessels enables Metalcraft to be ideally suited to support the development of new nuclear reactors.

New Nuclear Reactors

During the time Metalcraft has been involved in the nuclear industry, we have supplied various bespoke products to the sector. These bespoke items include medium-to-large fabricated and machined equipment in stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium.

The tanks, vessels and heat exchangers that Metalcraft supply are generally in stainless steel. However, we also produce our products in a range of materials - such as carbon steel, exotic alloys or aluminium. The vessels, tanks and heat exchangers are produced to a range of customer, national and international standards to meet the particular requirements of the site.

Beyond Nuclear Pressure Vessels

Metalcraft has the necessary fabrication and machining capabilities on-site to manufacture vessels, tanks and heat exchangers for nuclear applications. In addition to this, we also have a range of inspection, NDT and testing facilities for vessels, tanks and heat exchanges. We are applying our significant knowledge and expertise from the nuclear reprocessing sector to ILW boxes, containers and drums in the decommissioning sector.

Intermediate Level Waste

We have completed studies on intermediate level waste boxes, containers, and drums. These studies interrogated how manufacturable these items are. This in turn, has provided further expertise to Metalcraft to cast and supply these products. Metalcraft can produce ILW boxes, containers, and drums in carbon steel, stainless steel and SG Iron or ‘Ductile’ Iron.
